Red Hawk, adopted into the Lost Clan after the death of his parents at the hands of the Thunder god.  He’d dream of having revenge, longed to be chosen by the tribe as their champion.  The one brave who would save his clan from the curse.  But, he knew he’d never be chosen.  He’s a clumsy orphan after all.

We meet twelve year old Red Hawk as he’s going swimming.  That’s where he introduced himself to Effie Rutledge.  She’s the daughter of an archaeologist searching for artifacts to prove the legend of the Lost Clan.

It is years later before the two meet up again and, be still my heart, Red Hawk is one of those handsome hunks yah just want to lick up.

Karen Kay crafts an amazing tale.  I hadn’t read the other two books in the series, but after finishing this one I’ve put them on my must read list!

Katrina, The Beginning by Elizabeth Loraine (Kindle addition)

New Vampire Genre

The formatting of this book is horrible.  Each and every paragraph runs together and it’s hard to tell where one thought ends and another begins.

 The over usage of the word ‘said’ drove me crazy.  “Bla, bla, bla,” I said.  “Bla, bla,” father said.  “Bla, bla, bla,” said mother.  “Bla, bla, bla,” we said.

 
Honestly, I developed a phobia for that word!  As the author continues to grow in her writing, and while the book is being reformatted, I hope that word will be used a whole lot less.  Like, “Bla, bla, bla,” I told him.  “Bla, bla,” father replied.  “Bla, bla, bla,” laughed mother.  “Bla, bla, bla,” we agreed.

Because of the poor formatting and over usage of that word, it makes me shutter thinking about it, I had a love/hate relationship with this story.

This is book one in the Royal Blood series.  Katrina, born a vampire, receives extensive training in sword play and self defense.  As it turns out, the young lady is to be the leader of The Protectors—five female vampires who are to protect all the races of the world from evil.

 The adventure takes place in Europe during the time America is being settled.  Although I had a hard time with the issues I mentioned above I did feel as though Ms. Loraine planned the story well.

 I do believe the author has talent, and will improve her writing over time.  I’m planning on reading the next book in the series.  Book one leaves off at a point where you’ll want to know what happens in book two.

No, that isn’t what I thought of the book.  It’s the secret ingredient in ‘Rapunzel’, a new perfume about to hit the market in this amusing and well-written story.

I have to admit the adventure ended too soon for me, but that small disappointment won’t prevent me from looking forward to other tales by this author.

No spoilers here, but the book doesn’t end in quite the way I was imagining it would.  But that’s okay.  Dee DeTarsio has wonderful humor.  There were a few times I cracked a smile and laughed out loud.

If you enjoy a bit of humor in your reading you can’t go wrong with author Dee DeTarsio.  However, don’t expect a long read where the characters are developed over a period of time (countess pages).  You’ll need to use a bit of your own imagination to envision the people, but I think the author did a wonderful job at presenting a script for my mind’s eye to follow.

Very Cool Read!

The main character, Libby Fay, is a waitress trying to make a living.  Sheikh Rasyn wants a wife no one in his country would accept because he wants the Kingdom to go to his cousin.  From there our hero finds nothing goes the way he’d hoped.

This book had me hooked from the first chapter.  Teresa Morgan draws you into the story from the get go.

One review on Amazon was negative, but the issue that appraisal had doesn’t seem to be an issue for others.  It wasn’t for me.  I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance with a handsome Sheikh in the mix.  You might learn a word or two of Arabic along the way.

Camryn Carmichael’s last surviving relative is dead.  Aunt Silky wasn’t a young chick and suspicion abounds.  Had the older woman been thrown by her horse as evidence suggested?

The small hair on the back of Camryn’s neck raise as she considers the possibilities.

Breckenridge T. Ryan had been Silky’s lawyer.  He doesn’t like Camryn.  At first.  She’s just a city girl.  But yet, as the story unfolds we learn he’d always been fascinated with her because Silky had shared her niece’s letters with him.

Personally I found a lot of the book confusing.  One second good ol’ Breck doesn’t like Cami, the next he’s wants to date her as well as convince her she’s not engaged to the guy she’d left in Huston.  After all, he reasons, she wasn’t wearing an engagement ring.  One minute he’s coming on strong, the next second he tells himself he’ll back off.  Two minutes after that he’s back in Cami’s face confessing his love.

The book wasn’t bad, once I got it all sorted out.  Mystery abounds, and toward the end of the book I found myself looking forward to everything getting resolved.

Page turner-if you like erotica wordage

Please don’t let the reviewers who enjoy picking apart books sway you.  Often times what one person hates another loves.  Quite possibly you’ll find you like this book.

I didn’t read the description of the book, nor the reviews before downloading it.  Sometimes I like going into a story blind because life is like that.  You never know where the road will lead.

For my part, I only found a few things that threw me for loop.  The first one was when Alex, who’d been raised by her father her whole life, discovers her dad is a werewolf.  This is after we discover she believed there was no such thing as paranormal beings in the world.  One would think Alex would have struggled a tad more with the shocking news that werewolf’s were real and guess what honey.  You’re a half-breed.  Isn’t that great?

I would have gasped, stuttered and probably fainted, but within seconds of discovering this fact, Alex more or less shrugs her shoulders and goes on as though her belief hadn’t just taken a turn into the bizarre.

The second thing I struggled with was the fact that since Alex was ‘in heat’—as she was now maturing as a female werewolf—every time she looked at Joshua Striker, the hero, moisture was pooling you know where.  They had to watch out for werewolf’s finding them because they, the mutts, could ‘smell her’.  I have to be honest and say, as often as Alex was having moisture pooling, I’d of smelt her too and I’m not a werewolf.  (At least, I don’t think I am.)

Now that the negative is out of the way, and that’s only my opinion, once I got past the above I found this book to be an enjoyable read.  It is an action packed adventure that had me turning the pages as quickly as I could.  N. J. Walters doesn’t waste time going on and on with four or more pages of description.  The story moves along quickly.

The bottom line, in my opinion:  If you like werewolf romance, don’t mind some erotica and want a quick read, this book is for you.  The things I didn’t like about the book aren’t going to stop me from reading more from N. J. Walters, and will definitely be reading the second story in the series, “Isaiah’s Haven”!
